Ess

Esther Nixon is a pianist, vocalist, accompanist, music director, conductor, and independent recording artist. She studied music at The City College of New York (CCNY), where she directed and conducted Bat Boy (2022), Two Gentlemen of Verona (2023), and Heart and Music: A Cabaret (2024).

Before moving to New York, Esther collaborated with over 30 theater companies and high schools in Ohio and Michigan, directing and accompanying dozens of productions. She was a 2018 PFMC state finalist in classical piano performance.

As an artist, Esther wrote, produced, and recorded her debut album entirely on her own while navigating life on antipsychotic medication. Released in 2025, the project is both deeply personal and sonically ambitious, showcasing her commitment to honesty, resilience, and creativity. She since has released 3 more albums showcasing her creativity and love of music. 

In teaching, Esther takes a student-centered approach, pairing strong technical foundations with music that inspires and excites. Her goal is to nurture curiosity, artistry, and joy in every student.
